• What podcasts are you listening to?

Podcasts are a good form of entertainment and education as they bring interesting conversations to the viewers.

I have been an avid viewer of podcasts since 2015 when they started becoming known as a form of content.

A few informative podcasts right of the bat is The Joe Rogan Experience.Joe has been a pioneer in the podcasting world and his podcasts is one of the best, most informative podcasts put there with guests from physicists, astronauts, mma fighters and the list goes on.He even got Elon musk to appear thrice in his podcast! He talks about everything out there whether its about wild chimps, yeti, aliens or new technological advancements in the field of science, medicine to comedy, martial arts, health, nutrition and fitness.

Now,the podcasting world is booming with a new podcasting channel every day.So its hard to have a podcast that you view regularly.

If you are into health and research, Andrew huberman is one of the best scientifically accurate podcasts out there providing information based on the latest research in neuroscience and biology.

For science and technology,Lex Friedman has a guest list filled with brilliant minds,he talks in detail about geopolitics, science, research and the latest stuff about technology.

As a doctor,I like watching Peter Attia’s The Drive podcast and it’s one of the best out there when it comes to health and research on chronic diseases and management.

  • Limit Screen Time: Reclaim Your Mind

We have become dumber more than ever because of smartphones, mobiles. Its a rampant devolution of the brain as continuous scrolling through the phone affects both your serotonin and dopamine levels.

The amygdala which is the emotional regulating center of the brain decreases on consuming content online which affects dopaminergic levels in your brain.

The more amount of entertaining content you scroll through on instagram the more your dopamine receptors require a higher threshold of dopamine the next time.Thats how social media hijacks your brain leading to all kinds of mental health problems.

The trick is to limit the amount of content you consume online, look at the screen as little as possible.Try this one thing, whenever you get up in the morning try not watching the screen for atleast an hour, keep a watch or an real alarm clock instead of the phone and look at the time after getting up from the bed.Relax yourself ,sit on the bed calmly and recollect your thoughts and delve into your mind instead.Scroll through the thoughts of your mind rather than instagram.

Then after that you can just hit the gym or go running to start your day. This will give you a headstart for the day.It will give you a fresh start instead of staring at the phone, watching some reels and starting off lazy.

It is better to switch off your phones once in a while, recollect your thoughts and start the day.

  • Build Skills Over Time: The Power of Daily Practice

I am a firm believer in persistence and determination. Two things decide whether you can achieve what you want. These are skills to master, and they can be developed over time.

The other day I was reading the book Atomic Habits. It highlights the importance of trying something daily. The compounding of your habits gives you a good result. But the key is not to aim for the goal. Instead, change your system. changing the process itself can yield you big results.

For example, if you want to be a writer, blogging daily makes you eventually better in the same. If you want to make a YouTube video, work daily on your ideas. This can give you clarity on what you want to do next.Writing helps you organize your thoughts and put them on paper.

You can achieve the same with blogging. Blogging daily keeps you motivated to read books. You gain new information and blog more articles. It can be applied to other aspects of life as well. Watching podcasts or new content can help you as a creator in generating new ideas. Ultimately, it boils down to having patience to work on a skill. To master a skill, it takes a long time. You will face multiple failures. A skill does not grow linearly. Instead, it grows exponentially.

  • Embrace Versatility: Mastering Multiple Skills in Today’s Market

Keep redefining yourself. Learn new things every day. Sticking to one sector completely is not useful. It’s better to get good at one skill. Use that skill, improvise, and work on it. Generate wealth from that skill. At the same time its useful to get good at other skills like communication, finance, business, sales, marketing, artificial intelligence, coding, video editing etc

Writing and blogging is one of the many modern day skills that you can acquire as well. Many argue that blogging does not hold the same importance it had before because of artificial intelligence. The new rapidly evolving technology influences this perception. Yet, blogging requires patience like any other skill as well.

Artificial intelligence is a huge game changer in the technologically evolving market. One can gain a significant advantage by using it to learn skills in multiple domains. Its better to be a generalist than a specialist for the future years!

  • Diet is by far the most important way to get going with a healthy body and mind. My dermatology professor back in our training days took a four day class, not on dermatology, but on diet!

He started his class by saying the most important thing in your lifestyle is your diet. What you eat is what you are. He went on to tell us how he lost 20 kilos (44 pounds) of weight just by changing his diet. He highlighted the importance of eating fibers instead of drinking fruit juices. He emphasized not eating processed foods, also encouraged eating fresh vegetables and fruits.

Insulin resistance is by far the biggest enemy when it comes to maintaining a healthier lifestyle.A bad diet will have high amount of fructose, sucrose or other sugars in it. We refer to glucose as the main source of energy. However, it can become a significant risk factor for insulin resistance if not managed properly. Lack of exercise and lack of a healthy lifestyle can compound into this.

The ideal diet should include a moderate amount of carbs, moderate amount of proteins and low amounts of fat. Ketogenic diet is a unique alternative compared to a carbs-filled diet.

What details of your life could you pay more attention to?

A healthy diet should be supplemented with good amount of exercise as well like strength training.Hitting the gym or lifting weights plays a huge role in preventing insulin resistance.Increased weight resistance exercises increases muscle growth and leads to healthier bone density and muscle mass.
